Dolores Huerta once said, "Every moment is an organizing opportunity, every person a potential activist, every minute a chance to change the world." Everyday, lawmakers are making decisions on our behalf. In a world full of self interest, there is no way everyone will agree on everything, but how can we ensure our voices are part of the process? If there is a problem in our community, is there anything we can do about it? Should we go straight to the president or talk to our local city council? What does it mean to build grassroots power, and how can we be changemakers? In Intro to Making a Difference, students will learn about different levels of government representation and historical organizing wins, practice writing for diverse audiences, and learn how to make a difference about local issues they're passionate about.
